We are pleased to announce that we (Noble Missions for Change Initiative) have received seed funding from The Pollination Project to pilot a new project called ‘Give a Teach’. The Pollination Project is a global funding platform that provides small startup grants to individual change-makers and projects that promote compassion around the world.
‘Give a Teach’ is designed to leverage technology to recruit experienced professionals as volunteer teachers to teach children in low resource schools in their spare time. This grant would enable us to pilot the project with one public primary school in the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, Abuja.
In the pilot phase, we plan to bridge the identified ICT teacher gap in the selected school. In doing this, we would recruit ICT professionals to teach ICT related topics to the children in the school who hitherto have never received any ICT lecture. We hope to expand the project to other low resource schools within Abuja with similar problems in any subject, and eventually scale to other parts of Nigeria.
We believe that education is the bedrock of development, and investing in improving the quality of education in Nigeria should not be left for the government alone because it requires a multi-sectoral approach. We are indeed very grateful to The Pollination Project team for believing in our idea and taking a risk on us.
